Review: 'Wishful Drinking' Fisher's tell-all

It isn't every solo show that can boast a supporting cast that includes Debbie Reynolds, Eddie Fisher, George Lucas (all seated in the audience) and Paul Simon (on tape). Carrie Fisher's does.

Or did, at least - so help me, Obi Wan Kenobi - Tuesday when her "Wishful Drinking" opened at Berkeley Rep's Roda Theatre. And that's not all. The cast of characters in her autobiographical tale also features Elizabeth Taylor, Mike Todd, Connie Stevens, Sherlock Holmes and a Wookiee.

Welcome to the curious world of tabloid theater. Fisher (Carrie), daughter of crooner Fisher (Eddie) and movie star Reynolds, former stepdaughter of Taylor, Stevens and a host of others (on both sides), ex-wife of Simon and eternal Princess Leia, is just telling her life story - as honestly, sardonically, fetchingly, caustically and comically as she can.

Society depends on more for less

I have 2 non efficient cars 3.2 litre Merc & 4.0 litre Jag, the first covers approx 5000 miles per year the latter 2000 miles. I can assure you that I polute the environment less than your average 1.0 litre car driven every day! Remember not to class us all in the same bracket!Douglas Ronald, Kirkcaldy/Fife

Not only is Sir Mark Moody absolutely correct. He just became somebody for whom I have a lot of regard. So many people are willing to disregard their humanity in this day and age. We're much more robust than we give ourselves credit for. Good on you Sir Moody. Arno Hayes, Cape Town, South Africa

At last, someone with a bit of sense instead of all this global warming hype that is bandied about. Yes, we as a race are responsible for some of the problems but the Earth has had periods of heat and cold for billions of years.

New and improved FireSky Resort a solid Scottsdale golf trip ...

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Bad hotels don't tend to last in this trendy desert town that only seems to grow in popularity every year. Especially bad high-end hotels with room rates that would make a grandmother from Iowa faint.

There is just too much competition for luxury travelers. With the Phoenix-Scottsdale resort corridor seeing a virtual arms race of resort renovations, a hotel with something lacking to begin with holds little chance of survival.

It's probably no surprise then that the Caleo Resort & Spa found itself bought out by Kimpton Hotels and renamed and revamped as the FireSky Resort almost two years ago. If you had bad experiences at Caleo, it's time to put those to rest.

For a visit to the FireSky Resort offers up a dramatically different vibe.

'I believe angels were watching over us'

Kevin and Jeannie McDonough are wracked with what-ifs.

Almost seven months after the Chelmsford couple and their teenage daughter, Shea, turned the tables on a suspected mass murderer who had entered their home on a hot July night with evil on his mind and in his heart, the McDonough family is opening up about the events of that terrifying day.

And what they have discovered is that only one what-if really matters now. What if the fates hadn't been .
