| Govt okays construction of library in I-8/3
ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will establish a public library in Sector I-8/3 at a cost of Rs 59.86 million for which the government has now granted approval.
The go-ahead for the project, which is to be funded from the Public Sector Development Programme allocation of the HEC, was given during a recent meeting of the Central Development Working Party (CDWP). The construction of the library over an area of 19,478 square feet will take two years.
Islamabad has just a few libraries including the National Library and in this light the announcement of another facility is indeed welcome news for the people. I am glad to hear this, said schoolteacher Muhammad Aurangzeb who however pointed out that there was a need to have not one or two but several libraries across town.

Exxaro to boost coal supply to Eskom
This will form part of the 45-million extra tons that the utility is ordering to ensure that it will have adequate stockpiles at its power stations. Exxaro COO Mike Kilbride said on Thursday that the company had fairly rapid access to the necessary reserves – some would effectively be brownfields expansions of existing operations, while others were satellite reserves near operational mines. Although Exxaro believed that Eskom's power constraints were unlikely to affect its coal operations – the utility was, after all, dependent on the solid fossil fuel as its main energy source, and most of the mining group's coal mines supply some or all their production to Eskom power stations – the same assurance does not apply to non-coal operations in this country. The agreements between Eskom and Exxaro's KZN Sands and Zincor operations could see these divisions lose 10% of their production.
A sleep-friendly nursery made easy
