Toyota troubles
Q. When I try to fill my 2003 Toyota Camry with gas, the nozzle clicks off. I have to fill the tank as slowly as possible, or else gas backs up the spout and stops the gas pump. What's wrong? A. The most common problem is with the evaporative emissions system. A vent line runs from the fuel tank to the charcoal canister. This line can become become clogged. Or it may have been clamped off during some diagnostic testing. Q. I recently got involved in a front collision with a 2007 Nissan Altima sedan, in which the crash-zone sensor broke. I hit this car at 35 mph. Should the airbag have deployed? A. For an air bag to deploy, it generally takes a combination of speed, angle of impact and velocity of the crash. If one of these criteria were not met, the airbag may not deploy.
Animals Impounded, Building Nears Capacity
Norman, Okla. -- Officials in Norman impounded more than 30 dogs and cats this weekend. The animals are now at the Norman Animal Welfare Shelter, but overcrowding at the facility just became an even bigger issue. KSBI-TV's Kealey McIntire has more. Nearly 175 dogs and cats a week are taken to the Norman Animal Welfare Shelter. This weekend 23 cats and nine dogs were impounded and were taken to the shelter in addition to the normal activity. Major Jim Maisano, a Norman police officer, works closely with the animal welfare division. He says they're glad to help, but this weekend's activity adds to the overcrowding issue. "So that takes up a lot of our space not counting the average number of dogs and cats we take in during the week," says Maisano.
City give Leader a birthday present
WINCHESTER CITY came up with the perfect birthday present for manager Andy Leader on Saturday. After a string of poor performances and a somewhat lacklustre first half, two goals from skipper Dave Allen were enough to provide Leader with a win - albeit against Slough Town a side third from bottom in the table. A 0-0 half-time scoreline wasn't exactly the many happy returns' 43-year-old Leader had hoped for. But he was not afraid to change things and, having dropped Adam George and Richard Gregory to the bench in the wake of the latest defeat - 2-0 at Thatcham - he sent them both on after an hour for Paul Taplin and James Knight. Four minutes later his boldness was rewarded when man-of-the-match Aaron Parfitt's fizzing, low drive was parried by keeper Richard Barnard for Allen to slot in the rebound at the far post.
